Parcel Motel

For anyone who doesnt already know about this service, here it goes.

Parcel motel is a service where you can get your items posted to them at their warehouse. They then deliver the items to their collection points around the country. You decide what collection point to use when you sign up to the service. Once your package is at the collection point, you get a text/email with a code, and that code is used to open the locker at the collection point so you can get your package. So unlike the post office, this can be done at any time.

But heres where it gets good for us southern guys. They have two warehouses, one in the north, one in dublin. So you can get stuff sent from england to the north for standard royal mail costs (free from places like amazon who have free shipping) for Parcel Motels cost of 3.50. Should work with sellers who only post to the UK as well.

Now, the downside. They have limits on the size of packages, not sure what they are but they charge extra for anything over the limit. I havnt used these guys yet, but ive friends who swear by them.

Nice idea but do be careful because it will most probably be classed as a PO Box and alot of companies especially from abroad will not post to them.

I was thinking it would be a PO Box address to which you can't post anything that needs signing for as there would be nobody there, but this is to a business unit so should have staff there to accept and sign for.

You can now send packages with Parcel Motel. Havnt looked at the prices to see is there much of a saving. However the one that stands out is motel t motel is now cheaper than An Post. Looks like a great idea to be honest

I use Parcel Motel all the time for ebay stuff from the UK. Excellent, cost effective and quicker that UK post to Ireland. Plus parcels get delivered to the garage near me and then I get  a text to go and collect them My postman is lazy and typically just sticks a slip in the door rather than carry the package to me so it saves on the hassle of going to the post office too..
