6R4 door mirrors Toivonen 86 Manx

Just bought another Ixo Toivonen Unipart 6R4 with a view to converting it to his Manx 86 car with the help of a set of David's decals (any chance of mates rates?!)

Not being a 6R4 pedant I noticed that the door mirrors on the Manx car appear different to the standard Ixo release. Are these the "evo" rather than Clubman ones and if so is there a source as would like the car to be as accurate as possible as was lucky to be on the island for the event. It is possible they are correct and I just have to paint part of them black to make it look as if there is a hollow channel to let air through?

Queue onslaught of derision from the tractor fans...

The mirrors are correct, just a dab of paint to fix or pin vise with a small drill bit if you're feeling brave

Yes, Chris - the left hand drive Harri Toivonen 1986 Lombard RAC Rally (IXO RAC182) is indeed the most suitable base model to create his 1986 Tudor Webasto Manx Rally model using a set of my decals.

The mirrors are also correct on this model, being the vented International style, rather than the 'standard' roadgoing Metro mirrors used on the Clubman cars. With some careful colouring using a permanent black fineliner, the vent holes can be blacked in to create the impression of the hole itself.

The only other details that you would need to incorporate into your model, are a set of the white wheelfans, and the larger rear side window intakes - the latter, a modification particular to the R-E-D run cars, and designed to house larger oil coolers I gather. The latter I made out of plastic card, although I have been trying to cast these in resin so that I can sell them as an accessory.

Thanks David. I might be happy just to stick with the existing intakes as not a total purist! Have the wheel fans for this and the McRae car as would be nice to have a trio of 86 Manx 6R4s in the cabinet.

Hopefully we can do a deal on the decals!
