Re: Cazzo's Project Thread
.
I've finally got these 3 Impreza base models ready to post out on Monday,
There's another one to do (HPI) but I broke the front bumper and I'm waiting on another model to arrive,
They were a Ballix to do and took 3 goes as I couldn't get them to a standard I was happy with,
I've a lot going on and only get 1 or 2 Saturdays a month to work on models so I'm slow a getting stuff done for people,
Any models that I've said I would do for members will be done before Christmas....
If things don't work out at the start of next year then I think I'll have to pack it in and sell up!!

Thanks Lad's
Here's a few pic's of the real cars, I'm not building them, just doing the base models,

Another model done today, Ex,McRae Focus the one with the red/orange rear,
I couldn't wash the paint off as it was too thick so I needed to respray it,
Being pushed for time I had to rub as much of the red/orange paint off as I could using 500 grade sandpaper,
I then gave it 2 fine coats of black to seal in the red/orange paint to stop if from bleeding through the white I was putting on,
After it sat for 10mins or so I then sprayed the white over the top of the black and then the rest of the model,
Base Model
Black undercoat to seal in the red
White top coat mix with lacquer

Cheers Lad's
Omer I'm not sure what plans are for this 1/18 Focus as it's for a customer,
I've just to paint it white and then he is doing the rest,

Last model of the day,
The replacement HPI S12 arrived today so I got the bumper off it and painted the base for the Elliot Donegal car,
That's enough for 1 day so I'm off to the pub to have a pint or two
I'll do the rest of the black detail and post it out on Monday,

< Load's of updates on previous page
I got one of these Sunstar Metro 6R4's that had wonkey decals + Jimmy was the co.driver according to the decals on the door!!
As its not a great model I thought I'd remove the wonkey decals + see if I could get the "Racing" off as well,
The decals on the side were tricky to get off for being a decal, it's as if there is a fine lacquer coat over the top of them,
I had to use Panel Wipe (bit like white spirits) to soften the decal then wash it off, any residue was then cleaned off using fine car polish,
The "Racing" on the front and rear spoilers + the "Novafone" on the roof are tampo, I got these off using thinners but had to be very careful,
The blue paint is not lacquered so it will come off or stain if you rub too heavy on it, there is a slight stain from the roof decal but it's fine enough to live with,
I'd love to do a Billy Coleman model with this one but I've no decals to do it so I'll just stick on some "Rothmans" decals and a plain door square on it and ebay it as a Rothmans Test Car

Cheers Lad's,
I went ahead and fitted a few "Rothmans" decals to this 6R4 tonight and I'm going to call it a Test Car
Some may think this was the wrong thing to do but the Sunstar decals were that bad I couldn't leave it as it was and couldn't be bothered to return it,
Here's what I ended up with and I'd rather have it looking like this than have a Non-Irish model in the collection,
Sunstar need to sort out their quality if they are going to be looking £65/£75 for resin models with decals like this
Look at the style of the stripe on the roof

Re: Cazzo's Project Thread
You're doing it all wrong, Colin.
Before you stick it on ebay, cover it with mud/shyte, put it on a diorama and advertise it as a 'Rally Car Barnyard find' with buzz words like 'unique', 'one-off', 'ideal Christmas present' and, most importantly, 'one of the most sought-after modellers in Ireland'. You'll clean up!

That's a class idea Ted.... I'm away to find some brown paint for the mud!!
Can I use your "Buzz Words" or have you a copyright on them

Re: Cazzo's Project Thread

Another 2 models built for the collection,
Sandstrom 205 T16 Burmagh Rally 1986, Carlo decals & Spark base,
Handy enough build this with no real tricky bits, I added a set of spots so the decal would sit better,
It looks ok on the model but after seeing the photos I may cut the covers off the spots and just glue them on,
Jennings Evo9 Circuit of Ireland 2011, Jawi decals & Altyia/ixo base
Had to convert the dash to RHD and change the wipers over as well,
Windows blacked out with a fine mist of satin black on the inside,
Next time I build this Evo I'll cut the "Fuels And Lubricants" off the main side decal so I can place it better on the sideskirt,
