Only seeing this now.... Cheers Maurice
I got another Base Model ready for the JJ Fleming Focus along with another few models stripped back to plain white,
The Yellow Focus needed the camera box + 1 aerial removed and the holes filled before painting,
Steve can you send me photos of the car you are using this Plain White model for, I think there may be too much black on the front bumper,
I haven't started to remove the black paint yet as I'm not sure how much of it stays on,
If there is too much I can wash it off and repaint it back on the same as the yellow focus, just be the side vents and a thin spoiler along the bottom,

Re: Cazzo's Project Thread

My latest arrival turned into a wee project so I'll update it in here,
The rear ride height on the Wedge M3 sits a bit too high for my liking so after seeing it modified in another thread I had a go myself,
The model pulls apart by removing the 4 screws on the floor pan and they are easy to get at unlike Sunstar MKll's,
After the shell and floor pan are removed the front wheels lift off as they are just sitting on the floor pan,
The rear wheels sit through the floor pan and interior so 1 of the wheels needs to be pulled off the axle, this is easy to do as it's the same set up as 1/43 models,
When the wheel is removed and the axle slid out you will see a cut out on the inner arch were the lug of the brake disc sits,
On the upper side of the cut out I used a drill and made a slot upwards to let the axle sit higher letting the wheel sit up into the arch,
I had a few goes at this taking more away until I got a ride height that I was happy with, then built her back up and she's now sitting in the cabinet waiting on her OTTO Fina Oil big brother
Axle hole before cutting
Axle hole after cutting, I took away about the thickness of the axle bar
Brake dics in place
Model before & after
Model before & after

Re: Cazzo's Project Thread
nice job done! looking nice...
I have seen the other thread as well but I have a bit of hesitation for this rear ride height.
because, these cars are rear wheel drive which is to say, the power is at the back. therefore, the cars are having a lot of understeer in the corners. so, if I am not mistaken, in 90's it was on purpose to have the fronts lower then the rears, to improve the handling in the corners.
any ideas/comments?
below is a photo of the Bastos car...

They also ran bigger wheels on the rear eg 15" on the front and 16" on the rear.

Yeah Omer I saw that photo before and thought that I would just keep the model standard and not modify the rear,
When I got the model out of the box and into the cabinet it looked worst than that photo.... I let it sit for a few days but it still annoyed me,
I lowered the ride height enough to have the shell just sitting above the tyre and enough to keep me happy lol
edit.... ah Ballix, have I now to try and find 16" rims for the rear now

reg. the wheels, I am suggesting you to wait for a month or two then hopefully, there will be some surprise wheels for all these E30's

I've been playing about with more M3's this weekend, this time they are smaller than the Bastos M3,
These 3 are going to be John Bosch cars but I only have to decal up 1 of them as Rob is fitting his own decals,
I hope to have enough time a few nights this week to get them finished,
On the last model I done I had to use the standard masking tape and wasn't too happy with the paint edge,
This time I used sellotape to mask up for the blue then standard masking tape to cover the rest of the model,
The sellotape gave a very fine paint edge and when it's had a few coats of lacquer this will smooth out well,

With a rear wheel drive car, when the driver accelerates hard, the rear tend to go down due to the power through the wheels. So while having the rear higher is correct, most people would prefer it to squat down like it is in action

Cheers Chris,
Them Bosch M3's are a tricky wee fecker!!
I've 4 of them sitting at different stages and hope to end up with 2 good models out of that lot lol
To clear my head from the M3' for a while I've started to redo the cage and finish a few other bits on this Boland Cossie,
This is one that I built a while ago and Steve has talked me into selling it to him,
I've a set of decals to build another for myself or he wouldn't have got this one!! lol
