Photobucket
Hi guys;
I am using Photobucket to upload my photos for the forums. I have the Free version for 2GB capacity.
and up to now I only used %5 of it as the photos I am uploading are 640*480 which consume very little space....
but now, I can not see any of my photos on the forums and there is a warning from Photobucket saying I reached the limit of the bandwidth.
----
Bandwidth: Using 10.1 GB of 10.0 GB/month (100%)
----
whats this means?
thanks in advance for the comments and suggestions.
best
Omer

Re: Photobucket
Omer, there are two things with photobucket.
First is the amount of memory you have to store your photos in. This is the 5% you are talking about.
The second is the bandwidth. This is basically the amount of times your photos are downloaded i.e. when people look at the photos on the various forums. If the bandwidth is exceeded, then they will not be seen on the various forums until your billing period ends. I posted a lot of photos on a forum of old race cars and rally cars. Knowing the limit would be exceeded, I upgraded my account by paying I think $29 a year. This gives you a huge memory for storing things in and the bandwidth I have never even come close to reaching.

Cheers Mal for the explanations!
now its more clear for me, I was also thinking to get the usd29/year one. but was a bit concerned that it will also be exceeded quickly.
since you already had this experience, let me see what I can do with the upgrade.
cheers

Re: Photobucket
cheers Noel for the imageshack!
I may also consider moving to imageshack but earlier I have heard people having problems with imageshack. that was the main reason I choose photobucket. but seems I fail...
so, I guess first I have to fix photo bucket so that my threads and photos can still be seen....

Re: Photobucket
Guys, this is a relevant subject for me as the only photos you have seen from me have bene via Paul McM.
Having had a problem in the past where a 6R4 owner has used one of my photos without acknowledging me as the photographer and owner of the photo (as I'd asked him to), I'm very keen that any option I use to host my piccies is secure..... and cheap/ free!
Would Imageshack be the way to go, do you suggest?
Many thanks, Steve

Only 2 options to keep your pics safe
1. don't post them online.....i know it's not what you want but at the end of the day it is the best way to be sure they don't fall into the wrong hands
2. Put a copyright marking on them
I think the UK Government recently passed or are hoping to pass legislation that allows one person/company to use pictures found on the internet without asking permission from the owner of the image. If the owner finds out that the image has been used then they have to follow a procedure to get it removed and look for compensation....apparently it could take a while
Re: Photobucket
Thanks for the info, Speedy. You're right, it's not what I wanted to hear! Oh boy!!
Cheers, Steve
